Hi, it’s me — Vimy! GSP, park enthusiast, and expert in spontaneous full-speed sprints with zero warning.
Today I want to talk to you about warming up before a big run, because apparently it’s important to not pull your hamstrings (???). I don’t really know what those are, but my human says I have them, and that they can break if I go from “nap” to “rocket launch” too quickly.
So! Here’s my official guide to warming up — kind of:
🔄 Step 1: Spin in Circles While Your Human Gets the Gate
This is very scientific. It wakes up the legs, prepares the paws, and keeps the vibe chaotic. Bonus points if you yell.
🚶♂️ Step 2: The “Pretend” Walk
Before you go full-speed, try a few laps of “slow zooms.” It looks like walking, but you’re secretly scouting for birds, sticks, or the best spots to pee. This helps your muscles stretch out and your human catch up. You’re welcome, human.
🐕 Step 3: Check the Terrain
Run (lightly!) across different surfaces — grass, dirt, the weird gravel patch. This helps your paws get ready and your brain go “yes, this is my kingdom.”
⚡ Step 4: RELEASE THE ZOOM
Now you’re ready. Find the open space. Channel your inner eagle. And GO. Do not look back. Do not slow down. Do not explain yourself.
Just... be a blur.
Vimy’s Bonus Tip: If you’re like me and your body says “go” before your brain says “wait,” warming up is even more important on cooler days or after naps. Trust me — your hamstring things will thank you.
